Pastor Andrew Chung-Ying serves as Lead Pastor of Life Church of New Jersey, elected in 2025 following the resignation of the church's former pastor. But his story with this church then known as Word of Life Apostolic Center began long before that.
Andrew answered the call to ministry at 19 years old, becoming the youngest ordained minister in the church's history. He got his start behind the drum kit, serving as the church's drummer and music coordinator, before stepping into leadership as Youth Pastor of Impact Youth Ministry. Over the next 12 years, he built programs that shaped a generation of young people in their faith, a season that led to his appointment as Associate Pastor in 2020.
Andrew's passion for youth ministry reached far beyond the local church. For over a decade, he served in the New York Metro District (NYMD) Youth Department, holding leadership roles including CMI Director, Director of Promotions, and District Youth Secretary/Treasurer. During that time, he launched three Campus Ministries in New Jersey and two P7 Bible Clubs in New York — student-led initiatives that gave high schoolers a platform to live out their faith on campus. He also spearheaded the Holiday Youth Convention (HYC), a conference that grew to reach over 1,200 attendees across the New York Metro region. Andrew concluded his district youth ministry service in 2024, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and innovation.
In August 2024, Andrew founded Uplift, a mentorship program in partnership with Job Corps, taking a holistic approach to youth development. Through in-person services, small group mentorship, mental health counseling, leadership training, and self-esteem building, Uplift equips young people to overcome challenges and walk in their purpose spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and academically.
Today, as Lead Pastor of Life Church of New Jersey, Andrew carries that same heart into a new season building a multi-generational, multicultural Apostolic church family with a vision to reach 10,000 families across the Bayshore region. He loves souls, and he loves young people. It's his passion to reach the lost, whatever the cost.
Andrew is married to his friend and ministry partner, Julinette, and together they're raising their three children Judah, Selah, and Ezra. His mission remains what it's always been: "Our brightest days are ahead, and it begins with the young people."
"My desire is simple to help people encounter God in a real way and walk in the purpose He has for their lives."
